Fast Fact Laptops and Male Infertility
Fast Fact Laptops and Male Infertility – According to urologist Yelim Sheynkin who led the frightening study, using a laptop computer may encumber male reproductive health. And what’s worse is that there’s little that can be done about it. In the study, thermometers were used to gauge the scrotum temperature of 29 men while balancing a laptop on their knees and even with a lap pad underneath the computer, the men’s parcels overheated quickly.
“Within 10 or 15 minutes their scrotal temperature is already above what we consider safe, but they don’t feel it,” stressed Sheynkin. After an hour in this position, the researchers found that their testicle heat had risen by up to 2.5 C. “I wouldn’t say that if someone starts to use laptops they will become infertile,” Sheynkin told Reuters Health, though he warned that frequent use could contribute to fertility problems because “the scrotum doesn’t have time to cool down.”
